終於把〈羅一17作為社會文本之跨文化語言詮釋〉（英文）一文發電郵送出。全文一萬六千字左右，有否有錯那肯定是免不了的。但把稿子先送出好主辦當局方便辦事。下周要出發參加在牛津進行的Old Chinese Phonology & Palaeography，去之前這幾天還可以回到論文尚欠第二章的債。牛津回來，就要往第五和第七章作修改和補充的工夫了。

will certainly be one of my top choice to be either a textbook or assigned reading.  I am still wondering how I am going to teach systematic theology the same way I taught again.  I have a deeper conviction, with a limit of time to train theological school and teach them who expect to come to seminary to learn the Bible, that biblical theology is a must.  

I believe every theology is a contextual theology.  Biblical theology will certainly cover all the theological motifs/themes which later theologians–including church fathers–and systematic theologians of one time would have covered.  New Testament theologies for instance touch on these motifs/themes which later theologians work out there own systematic responding to their own times.

I believe Asian, no less Chinese, theologians will need to treat biblical theologies as contextual theologies; they need to seriously also consider Greek Fathers’ theologies as further reflections on biblical theologies, for which they have to learn but more so from their concern of their times and their engagement with the biblical texts.  

How should we conduct a three or four year seminary training? How will I conduct my course? What will I teach?

The problem revolves around how to interpret and translate the genitive. Is Christ, the object toward whom faith is directed “faith in Christ” [objective genitive] or the subject who experiences that faith “the faith(fulness) of Christ” [subjective genitive]?

Stanley E. Porter, Ph.D. (1988) in Biblical Studies and Linguistics, University of Sheffield, is President, Dean and Professor of New Testament at McMaster Divinity College, Hamilton, Ontario. He has published extensively in New Testament and related subjects. These include The Paul of Acts (1999) and the edited volume, with Jacqueline C.R. de Roo, The Concept of the Covenant in the Second Temple Period (Brill, 2003).

The Pauline letters continue to provoke scholarly discussion. This volume includes papers that raise a variety of questions regarding the canon of the Pauline writings. Some of the essays are more narrowly focused in their intent, sometimes concentrating upon a single dimension related to the Pauline canon, and sometimes upon even a single letter. Others of the essays are more broadly conceived and deal with how one assesses or accounts for the process that resulted in the letters as a collection, rather than analyzing individual letters. There are also mediating positions that attempt to overcome the disjunction between authenticity and inauthenticity by exploring the complex notion of interpolation.

Stanley E. Porter, Ph.D. (1988) in Biblical Studies and Linguistics, University of Sheffield, is President, Dean and Professor of New Testament at McMaster Divinity College, Hamilton, Ontario. He has published extensively in New Testament and related subjects. These include The Paul of Acts (1999) and the edited volume, with Jacqueline C.R. de Roo, The Concept of the Covenant in the Second Temple Period (Brill, 2003).

The Pauline letters continue to provoke scholarly discussion. This volume includes papers that raise a variety of questions regarding the canon of the Pauline writings. Some of the essays are more narrowly focused in their intent, sometimes concentrating upon a single dimension related to the Pauline canon, and sometimes upon even a single letter. Others of the essays are more broadly conceived and deal with how one assesses or accounts for the process that resulted in the letters as a collection, rather than analyzing individual letters. There are also mediating positions that attempt to overcome the disjunction between authenticity and inauthenticity by exploring the complex notion of interpolation.
